Synopsis
Synopsis
She's about to trade her treasured motorcycle in on a much wilder ride--Ian Coghlan.
Divorcee Peyton Reynolds is ready to escape the the judgement of a small town, bad memories of her failed marriage, and the grief of her mother's death. A month long, cross-country ride should do just the trick. One last check-up on her new cruiser has her tripping over her hormones while alone in the garage with the town's sexy bad boy, Ian Coghlan.
Tattooed, pierced, and able to shape-shift, Ian will give her the ride of her life.
Ian Coghlan knows he's nothing but disaster for a woman like Peyton. His place in the Wild Hunt and killer instincts have held him back from acting on a five-year attraction. When the curvy brunette responds to one tiny grin with a spark of interest, sockets fly out of the toolboxes and Peyton is knocked to the floor.
That month of solitude she wanted just disappeared, but the consolation prize is looking pretty...damn...hot.
With the magic of the Hunt in the air, Pixie pranks abound, and his old biker gang roars into the parking lot, dousing the heat in the garage with the cold dredges of mayhem. Peyton's life is on the line with his bad brothers' return to his world, and Ian has to decide if he can let her go or if he's willing risk her eternal hatred by changing her life forever.
Reviews
Witty & Original!!! :: 5 Stars! :: Jennifer James had me laughing through this entire piece with the characters' internal monologues as much as with their actual dialogue. Peyton Reynolds starts off as this female protagonist that I wanted to like because I could relate to her -she's got family obligations which she feels she's neglected or not done her best with, she's come to accept her figure rather than being a person who thinks their body is perfect, she's had bad luck with men/relationships in the past- and then Peyton becomes this chick I just want to buy a drink!
She's hilarious!
All the through the piece she's fixated on getting away from her real life worries for a while, living it up, and trying not to notice exactly how hot the mechanic at her bike dealership is...oh but that doesn't work out so well for her.
The moment that Ian's POV is introduced really shifted the story for me into that great space where paranormal romance blows contemporary out of the water since it's hard to compete with the magic of that genre. I loved all the details about The Wild Hunt. I adored that her Fae were darker in tone than a lot of people choose to go. I especially enjoyed how everything came together at the end to simply fit from pieces into a whole work like a puzzle that's finally solved.
That's how the ending felt to me: as if the puzzle of Peyton's life had been solved.
It was sexy, sassy, and above all else, supernaturally fun times. I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to read this and I can't wait to see where The Hunt rides to next!

Glad I decided to see this one through to the end! :: 4 Stars! :: While reading the first chapter I wasn't sure if I was even going to finish the story. The main character Peyton is sporadic and mentions her ovaries twice, which isn't particularly sexy. I felt like I was looking into the mind of someone with ADD. However I was given a copy for an honest review by This Redhead LOVES books so I decided to stick it out.
Boy was I ever glad I did! It may have started slow but once it switches to Ian's perspective it really picks up. Jennifer James shows a great knowledge of the supernatural and dives head first into this world of Fae and sexual tension. There's action, sex, and even throws in true love. I cannot wait until the next book in the series! ~ Danielle Maples-Peace, reviewed based on ARC provided to This Redhead LOVES Books
Does not disappoint & left me wanting more of The Hunt! :: 5 Stars! :: As a fan of paranormal romance, I can easily say that this novella did not disappoint, and left me wanting more of The Hunt as a result. The action does take some time to build for a story of its length, but I was never bored and kept turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.
Wait?! I need MORE! :: 5 Stars! :: Seriously, I loved this short like burning! There is nothing more appealing to me in a paranormal read than a sexy "other" female who can kick major tail! Laney is a Reaper -as in, an actual descendant of The Grim Reaper himself- and she literally wipes the floor with anything that gets in her way from evil humans to werewolves. She's funny, spunky, and this tiny slip of a thing who kept me on my toes all the way through the work.
Troy Regan is the human detective who spots Laney while she's out hunting souls to reap; he started out being a bit of scenery in the place to her, but wow does he come alive! That sounds so ironic considering she deals in death except it's totally true! Troy made this story come alive for me. His fascination with Laney mirrored by own. His acceptance of the supernatural world that was infesting the quiet little town he'd come to settle down in was so well-written that I found him a compelling, convincing resident of Liberty. His desire for her was enough that he wanted to protect her yet his interest in her led him to trust her to handle herself which I really appreciated.
Some people want to see the hero save the girl all the time.
I'm not one of those people.
Seeing Troy accept that Laney was a powerful force to be reckoned with in her own right was wonderful to me.
I only wish there was more of it! That's my only complaint! I loved it all the way through and I hope that Mina Carter gets a follow-up out soon!

Why did it end so quickly?! :: 4.5 Stars! :: Honestly this probably closer to a 4.5 star (than 4 stars). I loved and hated this story. And by hated I mean the fact that it ended so quickly! Mina Carter did a fantastic job hooking me into this universe. Laney is spunky and hell on wheels, just the kind of character I love reading about. Troy is sexy and completely wins me over with his get down to business attitude and protective nature. And the chemistry between them is like fireworks.
Big thanks to This Redhead LOVES books for giving me an ARC copy to review! ~Danielle Maples-Peace

Peyton Reynolds is a sassy, strong, fun female lead and I sincerely enjoyed her inner dialogue throughout the piece. She’s been let down in life, and has sacrificed a lot to help take care of her mother during the last years of her life. Peyton makes a hard choice by sending her mother to a nursing home, but only because she cannot care for her any longer. She’s an everyday type of woman. She’s curvy, unsure of herself, and overall I found her to be a character that I could identify with. The only release she has is riding her new bike, oh, and stealing glances at the hot mechanic at the dealership where she purchased her bike.
Which brings us to Ian Coghlan, said sexy mechanic, but when we’re first introduced to him I wasn’t quite sure what to make of him because of Peyton’s inner dialogue. Ian was cast out of The Hunt due to his inability to find a mate, finding peace and quiet in a small town in Georgia to help calm his magic. Life was good for Ian; something changes one day when Peyton comes into the garage for one last tune-up. He begins to wonder if she’s his missing mate, but he’s never picked up on the fact that she was Fae until that day. The other members of The Hunt are upon them, causing Ian to question Peyton’s linage further.
The sexual tension that builds between Peyton and Ian is absolutely wonderful, and the sex itself is scorching hot. Overall, Peyton’s Ride was a fun, mystical quick read, and a wonderful way to start off the Riding With the Hunt series. I give it five out of five stars, and eagerly await the next installment. ~Sarah Dockery, review based on ARC provided to This Redhead LOVES Books

About the Author
For a girl whose first book was called “The Scariest Forest Ever,” the jump to romance may seem to be a far one. But a love of happy endings and the stories she kept making up in her head for strangers on the street lead to an unhealthy amount of time spent behind the keyboard typing away and giggling mischievously over sassy heroines, sexy heroes, and healthy sprinklings of geek humor.
With time split between a day job staring at teeth, two little girls, college courses, workaholic husband, and too many voices in her head, Jennifer still finds time to sneak off and devour all the books she can find – even if it means hiding in the closet to read them.
She insists on her jokes being dirty, drinks spiked, and tattoos placed in intriguing, muscular places you can only find when the clothes come off.

Quick, sexy, sassy read! :: 5 Stars! :: If you’re looking for a quick, sexy, sassy read I’d definitely recommend checking out The Reaper and the Cop, the first in the Liberty Oakwood series. The pace of this piece was great; not too fast, and not too slow. I kept turning the pages, ready and excited to see what would happen next. Be warned though, the ending is abrupt, and definitely leaves you wanting more. Still, the writing is solid, the characters brilliantly written and the plot insanely intriguing.
We start off meeting Laney, a Reaper, who explains what being a Reaper really is all about. She’s fun, snarky, and definitely says exactly what’s on her mind. Tough as nails, independent, petite and curvy, Laney is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to combat. Laney is just going about her business when she sees Troy in a bar, and surprisingly he can see her too.
Troy Regan is a driven cop who is trying to figure out why the small town is being overrun with paranormals. Troy is a great example of an alpha male, he’s handsome, quick on his feet – especially where Laney is concerned – and from the moment he catches eyes with Laney, he feels protective over her. Personally, I’m not 100% convinced that Troy is completely human, but I suppose we’ll see.
Overall I give The Reaper and the Cop five stars, and am impatiently waiting for the next installment of the series. ~Sarah Dockery, review based on ARC provided to This Redhead LOVES Books

About the Author
Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.
So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all...
(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)
The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She's addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.
